No, pursuant by city ordinance, we charge for all GIS products and services in
order to recover our cost of labor to provide these services. |
| How do I download data? |
Presently,
GIS data is not available for download via the Internet. GIS data is provided though the GIS Products & Services Unit of SPU. A data provision service is established for
the intake of GIS data requests. However, Standard Maps are available for download online at:http://www.cityofseattle.net/GIS/docs/mapsonline.htm |
| What does GIS mean? |
GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
is a system of software and hardware used to create, collect, analyze, store, manipulate, and illustrate spatial data. |
| What if I need a hard-copy map? |
Express
Maps are available at the GIS Map Counter located on the 20th floor of Seattle Municipal Tower (formerly
Key Tower) (700 5th Ave) or by calling (206)684-0965. Express Maps are pre-designed 11x17 maps displaying area
of interest and themes of interest.

Custom Mapping is required for meeting specialized mapping and analysis requests that cannot be met with either Standard
Maps or the Express Mapping Service. |

GIS data is available
at the Map Library located in Suzzallo Hall to all registered University of Washington students. The data can only be
used for educational purposes and cannot be redistributed, sold, or used for commercial purposes. |
